    The languages Medieval literature was written in is mainly Latin. This is because the only access to education was in the Catholic Church, and the Catholic Church operated in Latin. Serfs and royalty usually spoke English, and for this reason many Royals hired monks and ordained priests to write their autobiographies or memoirs. It is debatable how accurate these memoirs are, purely because the Royal had no idea what the monk was writing, and therefore could not control what was written.
